Through her lengthy career, she has portrayed a lady who has been a musician as well as a composer. She has won fifteen Grammys. Her name is synonymous with the Lady of Adele Laurie Blue Adkins MBE. Cugat sent the gorgeous brunette with brown eyes to New York. A Columbia talent scout was able to spot her, and she was signed in 1942. There she played brisk leading ladies in a number of standard, boring B films, including Vengeance of the West (1942) which starred Tex Ritter and Alias Boston Blackie (1942) which starred Chester Morris. She was transformed a few years later into a sexy platinum blonde pin-up when she signed up with Republic Studios. The actress was very active there, mostly appearing as leading ladies in senorita roles alongside cowboy actors Roy Rogers in Bells of Rosarita (1945) as well as Gene Autry in Twilight on the Rio Grande (1947). She was also fetching fodder in crime dramas including Blackmail (1947) as well as Web of Danger (1947) and a pleasant diversion in action films like Wake of the Red Witch (1948) which starred John Wayne and The Avengers (1950). Her finest roles were Angel in Exile, (1948), as well as Sands of Iwo Jima, (1949), both starring Duke Wayne. It was not often that she had an opportunity to showcase her talents as an actor but by 1950, her acting career was waning.
